Taraflex® COURT A SUCCESS AT AAU BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS
ATLANTA, GA, AUGUST 10, 2005 - Taraflex® Sports Flooring by Gerflor made its first appearance at an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball tournament a memorable one for the players fortunate enough to have their games scheduled for the Sport M Plus court. Taraflex® provided the portable NBA regulation size court for the four day West Coast AAU Boys National Championship and West Coast AAU Championship events held simultaneously in Reno, NV.
“I think the Taraflex® floor is great,” says Matt Williams, president and chief executive officer of Jam On It Basketball Academy, the Reno nonprofit organization which hosted the tournaments. “The reaction from many of the players, coaches and referees was very positive.” The tournaments attracted approximately 600 players ranging from 3rd to 12 th grade in 54 teams from across the country.
The teams were a mix of All-Star, recreation and school squads. From morning through evening, players on 28 different teams continuously used the Taraflex® Maple Design court with blue keys and white game lines throughout the July 20-24 competition at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. In the coming months, many more teams will play on the Taraflex® court which will stay in place at the convention center for Jam On It’s basketball tournaments, practices, lessons and camps through January 2006.
